Change and Prepare: November
Well, Halloween has come and gone, and we’re getting into the cold, short days here. Many of the trees have lost their leaves, which are blowing like little tornadoes all over the neighbourhood.
With the weather changing from crisp autumn days to the beginnings of snow, I thought November would be a great time to look at what we need to change this month, and what we need to prepare.
Look at the leaves and pairs of cards, and choose one of the four.
As always, I’d love to hear your feedback! How did you feel the message for your choice fit your current situation?
Orange Leaf (I)
What to change: Knight of Swords
The Knight of Swords often appears when we’re rushing headfirst into battle, without taking the necessary time to think things through. This month, change the way you’re approaching different tasks and situations – approach with extra caution, and be sure to really think things through. This is not a month to let your emotions cloud your judgement; use your head.
What to prepare: Five of Cups
It looks like November will bring with it some unexpected disappointment. Know that any setbacks you face can be overcome – dwelling in the what could have been won’t help. Let go, and be grateful for what you learned from the experience or what you still have. Don’t set your expectations so high that you fail to enjoy the moment in front of you.
Light Yellow Leaf (II)
What to change: Empress
This month your needed change lies within how you nuture not only others, but yourself. Put time aside for some much needed self-care; drink enough water, and get enough sleep. Realize that by doing so you’re not being lazy or selfish. This is also a great month to connect with nature; enjoy the changing season, and get some fresh air in your lungs.
What to prepare: Justice
Justice for November speaks to one of two situations: a hidden truth will come to light, or a heavy decision will need to be made. Either way, you’ll need to prepare yourself for the repercussions. Be honest. Be fair. Most importantly, listen to all sides of a story before making any judgements or choices.
Red Leaf (III)
What to change: Strength
Strength represents a soft control; leading by example, being diplomatic, and letting everyone say their peace. This month it’s time to change your approach to leadership and not-so-positive interactions. Whatever situation you find yourself in, know that you’ll get further by conducting yourself from a place of empathy and compassion. Don’t give in to raw emotions and reactions – especially when trying to get your way.
What to prepare: Page of Pentacles
The Page of Pentacles is young, and curious. In terms of what to prepare, it’s time to start making plans for those skills you want to acquire and goals you want to accomplish. Take November to plan. Open your mind to the myriad of possibilities available to you. Figure out what you want to do, and start making steps towards that, no matter how big or small.
Dark Yellow Leaf (IV)
What to change: Eight of Cups
It’s time to change your mindset. This is not a month to drown yourself in feelings of pity and sorrow; nor is it a time to withdraw into yourself as a way of escaping reality. No matter how hard it is, deal with your setbacks head on so that you can move forward. Reevaluate and apologize. Find an activity that you enjoy doing, and pursue it.
What to prepare: The Hanged Man
It looks like November will really be a time for you to look at things from a different perspective. Be ready to take a time out, cast away your judgement, and try to see things from a completely new perspective. If you’re in a disagreement with someone, look at things from their point of view. The Hanged Man is about inaction – so be ready to wait. This is not a good month to act in haste.
